Devauden Races

Devauden Races – Monday 6 May 2024
The 2024 Devauden Races are organised by SARA
– The Severn Area Rescue Association –
in partnership with the Devauden Hood Memorial Hall Committee.
The 2024 Devauden Races will see a return to the May Bank Holiday Monday event format, which was popular for many years before Covid.
Race timing will again be provided by our friends at Rogue Runner.

Racing in the forest

Devauden Races routes start from Hood Memorial Hall – the village hall in Devauden. Race organisation and marshalling will be handled by volunteers from SARA and the Devauden area, assisted by local running clubs.

These routes offer the opportunity to race off-road on forest paths and tracks in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

10k, 5k and 2k routes plus a 60m dash for under 6 year olds

All races start and finish in the grounds of the Hood Memorial Hall in Devauden – just ten minutes from Chepstow and the old Severn Bridge.

The charity event raises funds for SARA (Severn Area Rescue Association) which patrols the Severn Estuary; the rivers Severn, Wye and Usk and the land in between. They provide first aid and emergency cover on race day.

The 10k is run on a course which circles Chepstow Park Woods plus an inner loop. The 5k route is run on an inner loop course.

There are trophies for the first male and female home In each distance.

The traditional 60m dash across the football pitch is for 6 years and under. Entry for the 60m dash is free and everyone who finishes gets a medal.

Test yourself on this challenging but beautiful course with stunning views across the River Severn and not a car in sight.
