SARA Beachley Lifeboat Launch Tractor Appeal

The Just Giving page for the launch tractor has now expired.  A massive thank you to all who have donated.  The total raised through the page including the gift aid exceeded £7,000

Other activities have been extremely successful meaning that the total now in the fund is in excess of £17,000, over halfway to the target of £30,000.  A very special shout out goes to Chris Greenaway who has now completed 2 of his 3 mammoth challenges; the Worcester Marathon and the 3 Peaks.  With one more to go – the Cotswold Ultra Marathon he has already raised over £4,000.

The fund raising efforts will continue.  the next event is the Golf Day at the St Pierre Country Club, on the Old Course,  on 27th September, This promises to be a fantastic day with some amazing prizes,  good fun competitions on a wonderful golf course.  If you are a golfer it is not to be missed!  if you are a business and would like to support us then there are still sponsorship opportunities available.  Please get in touch by email to . Thank you so much for your support.  All of us at SARA are really appreciative.

The wonderful and trusty lifeboat launch tractor at SARA Beachley Lifeboat Station has served us well over the past 20 years. She was the brainchild of our own Chris Taylor – who – tired of replacing the brakes on the landrover from damage caused by frequent dips into the water off the slipway – spotted a dumper truck and figured that it could be the solution. He managed to get hold of one, set about re-engineering it and it has done the job perfectly ever since.

However, over 20 years of service has taken its toll and it now needs ever increasing amounts of TLC. It now spends a lot of time stripped down for repairs. The time has sadly come to retire this much loved machine and replace it.

Machines that can do this job do not come cheap, they have to be robust and reliable, capable of withstanding salt water and Severn mud.

Thank you!

Marathon, 3 Peaks and 100km Challenge

SARA supporter Chris Greenaway (who works as a Farm Manager) is undertaking not 1, not 2, but 3 amazing endurance events this spring to raise money for a replacement launch tractor for Beachley.

First, in May, is the Worcester Marathon, followed, just a week later, by the 3 peaks Challenge and then in June by the 100km Cotswold Ultra Challenge. Chris is doing all of this in memory of his sister-in-law, Emily, who tragically took her own life and was found by SARA after an extensive search of the River Severn.

Please read his story and donate if you can …
