Lydney

July 28, 2026

This afternoon we were called to the Lydney area, to support Gloucestershire Constabulary.  Team members from SARA Beachley, Tewkesbury and Cotswolds attended. Thankfully the missing person was found safe outside our search area after a few hours, so we were stood down.

Many thanks to all who attended, including a search dog team from Search and Rescue Dog Association South Wales who were en route to Lydney.

Kemsey

July 27, 2026

We were called out to the Kemsey area today (Monday), to support West Mercia Police and West Mercia SAR in the search for a missing person; a continuation of the search at Malvern on Saturday. A land search team from SARA Wyre Forest attended.

This search was eventually stood down pending further information from the police.

River Severn Beachley - 2 separate Jet Skis

July 25, 2026

Around 5.15pm, following a series of VIP lifeboat trips out onto the Severn, the crew were half way through washing down SARA Lifeboat 1 when a member of the public alerted them to a broken down jet ski. They notified the Coastguard and relaunched SARA 1. They were able to quickly locate the jet ski and tow it back to the slipway, everyone was safe and well.

Then at around 9:20pm, we were paged by the Coastguard to assist a (different) jet ski that had become stranded on the Hen and Chickens rocks close to Beachley.

It emerged that the rider had experienced engine problems on the water and had drifted with the tide onto a particularly hazardous section of rocks out of sight from the slipway. The falling tide had left the jet ski firmly stranded on the exposed rocks, making immediate recovery impossible.

Working alongside Chepstow Coastguard Rescue Team, the person was safely assisted across the thick mud back to shore safe and well.

The lifeboat crew then returned to SARA Beachley station around 1.15am and eventually when the water had risen sufficiently, SARA lifeboat 7 was launched and towed the jet ski back to the slipway. They finally left to go home around 3.30am, happy to have had a good outcome.

Well done all concerned.

Malvern

July 25, 2026

We were called out to the Malvern area this afternoon, to support West Mercia Police and Longtown Mountain Rescue in the search for a missing person.

The search was suspended in the early evening with nothing having been found.

Cirencester

July 25, 2026

The SARA Land Search Team was called out around 9am this morning, to support Gloucestershire Police with the search for a high-risk missing person in the Cirencester area.

Team members from our stations at Tewkesbury and Beachley, as well as SARA Cotswolds which is in Cirencester were responding, along with colleagues from neighbouring Wiltshire Search and Rescue, when the missing person was located safe.

Chepstow River Wye

July 19, 2026

This morning at SARA Beachley was a joint towing exercise with our colleagues from RNLI Portishead.  We had a great session, using our SARA Lifeboats 1 and 7 and their Atlantic 85.

As the crew were washing off the boats we received a callout from the Coastguard to assist a 19ft power boat that had suffered an engine failure and was drifting upstream of Chepstow Castle, so the crew quickly re-launched SARA Lifeboat 1.

They readily found the casualty vessel and towed it back to Beachley where they

helped the owners and HM Coastguard Chepstow to recover it.

Swindon

July 16, 2026

The SARA Land Search Team was called out shortly before 0530, to support Wiltshire Search and Rescue with a search on the Swindon area.  A small number of team members from SARA Beachley, Tewkesbury and Cotswolds Stations attended or were en route.

Thankfully the missing person was located safe during the morning.
