SARA Wyre Forest Station

  • SARA’s third station
  • Houses two inshore rescue boats SARA 8 & SARA 10 + an RDC (Rapid Deployment Craft)
  • Land Search Ambulance and Boat Haulage Vehicle also located on station

The rescue station was donated by the Arley Farming Company, tenants of Arley Estates which is part of the R. D. Turner Charitable Trust.  It was agreed that SARA could lease this section of the building providing all works were carried out by the members themselves.  It has taken just over 12 months to transform what started off as a general farm building housing grain silos into a fully operational rescue station comprising control room/office, training room, dry room and boat house housing all the rescue equipment.  The estates electrician installed all electricial components including emergency lighting and a local builder assisted in the laying of the blocks which form the shell of the building.  The members themselves have spent many evenings and given up free time fitting out the station, spending hours painting inside and out to reach the standard now achieved.

With approval now from Hereford & Worcester Fire Service, SARA will be tasked by Fire Control together with responding to requests from West Mercia Constabulary covering the River Severn and all adjoining waterways etc., as well as providing a land/bank search rescue team as and when required.
