SARA Receive Land Rover Donation

Copy of Official Press Release follows:

Severn Trent Water has donated a Land Rover to assist Severn Area Rescue Association.

The land rover was formally handed over to a small part of the SARA Wyre Forest team at Trimpley Reservoir by Keith Hart, Regional Transport Manager for Severn Trent Water, and was warmly received.

“Severn Trent Water is happy to support SARA who cover a large operational area from the tidal estuary of the Severn up as far as Shrewsbury and associated waterways. This will be a valuable addition to the equipment that SARA already use and will be in service on every callout.” Keith Hart said, as he formally handed over the land rover to the SARA team.

On receiving the vehicle Karl Morgan, Station Chairman stated “This donation from Severn Trent will greatly benefit SARA Wyre Forest as it has been fitted out as a Search & Rescue Ambulance by our own crew members. It just needs a roof rack and blue lights and the re-fit will be complete”.

He added, “SARA are a recognised 999 team under Mountain Rescue and whilst we don’t have many mountains within our operational area, we frequently get asked to carry out land and river bank searches for missing persons on behalf of West Mercia Constabulary. This vehicle will be used on both land and boat callouts”. In cases of difficult access for the normal ambulances, SARA will be able to utilise the land rover in possible extraction of casualties.
