SARA Beachley's Replacement Launch Vehicle

Lifeboat crews at SARA’s Beachley Station have just taken delivery of a replacement Launch Vehicle (LV) as a result of a generous donation of a reconditioned 3 ton Benford dumper from Eddie Hayward of Chepstow Plant International Ltd. The 3 ton dumper was skilfully converted by SARA member Chris Taylor assisted by Gareth Denley with donations of equipment and services from a number of local engineering companies.

"The old LV was on its last legs, burning oil, belching black smoke, with a gearbox that had to be gently handled in order to avoid getting it stuck in reverse. Our Launch Vehicle is an essential piece of equipment which needs to be reliable and efficient, the replacement is both. We are most grateful to all those who contributed and in particular Eddie Hayward” said Ron Harris the Beachley Station’s Senior Coxswain.
