SARA assist BBC H&W radio
BBC Hereford & Worcester Radio presenter Dave Bradley has spent the last week getting to the studios on Hylton Road in Worcester by alternative means. He has biked, walked, taken the bus, train and on Friday 16th September he was taken from Upton Marina up to Worcester by a crew on SARA 10 from Wyre Forest Station. His planned mode of transport was kept as a surprise for the listeners until the morning itself when he unveiled his chosen ‘vehicle’.
SARA Exec Chairman & coxswain Alan Stanley, together with Sarah Lawrence, accompanied Dave on his journey up the River Severn whilst crew members Jon Seagrove and James Bamforth manned the SARA mobile and took the boat trailer up to Pitchcroft at Worcester where the boat was recovered and made ready again for active service.
“SARA were happy to help out on this occasion although we had to get
up very early in order to make the rendezvous at Upton and it was very cold
coming up the river that morning, it certainly blew the cobwebs out of your
ears” said coxswain Alan Stanley. “It was one of the coldest mornings
so far, but at least it was dry” he added.
