SARA

One of the residents living near our Chepstow (Beachley) Lifeboat Station (Jan Morris) volunteered to run the London Marathon in order to raise funds for SARA.
She completed the marathon in 3 hours and 59 minutes and raised a total of £1,369.16. This was a fantastic effort, particularly as Jan only expected to raise in the region of £400. Jan is 35 years old, married with two boys aged 6 and 7 and works as a Civil Servant in Bristol. She wanted to support a local charity rather than a national charity and chose SARA after seeing some of our members fund-raising in Chepstow town at Christmas time. It was also a popular choice with the locals in the Boat Inn public house where Jan had been working part time.
The money raised was sufficient to pay for the servicing of the engines of all of our 3 boats at Beachley Station, 2 of which have already been done, with sufficient left over to purchase 3 waterproof handheld VHF radios to replace our non-waterproof models.
All the members of SARA would like to thank Jan for her support!
