Beachley Station Induction Day

Are you looking for a new challenge? Would you like to learn new skills and provide a service to the local community?

The Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA) is looking for new volunteers to join its organisation. SARA is looking for people who can train to be lifeboat crew, Land Search specialists and also assist in fund raising activities.

You do not need any experience to join SARA as full training is provided. All we do ask is that you are reasonably fit, and have a few hours free per week to dedicate to this very worthwhile and fulfilling cause. You will need to be 18 to participate as an active member in callouts, but with parental consent you can train with us if you are younger. We currently have a variety of members aged between 16 and 60, both male and female, with a huge variety of different professions.

Beachley station will shortly be holding an Open/Induction day where prospective new members can come to the station and meet the crew.

Beachley station has three inshore rescue boats, which are being called out with increasing frequency to incidents in the Severn Estuary and other waterways in the area. Flood relief work has also been commonplace in the last few years.

Another large part of SARA's activities is the search for missing persons. We are regularly tasked in and around the local area to locate missing persons and have a carried out a number of successful searches in recent years.

SARA also has to be very active in fund raising. As a registered charity we rely solely on donations to provide running costs and to purchase new equipment. We regularly hold events such as collections, attending shows and fetes etc. These events are usually manned solely by our crew. If you would be able to help with these events, but do not wish or are not able to be full crew members then your help would be very gratefully received.

We are also always looking for non-operational administrative staff to help with the smooth running of the charity. Please call us if you can help.

We will shortly be announcing the date for the open day. If you would like to attend, please email us or call Richard on 01291 623056
