55 11/11/02 17:21 Upton Call to investigate car submerged in canal near Bilford lock, Worcester. After draining section of canal using lock sluices, safe examination of car proved that it was not occupied. Stood down 20:17
         
54 9/11/02 13:25 Beachley Launch to recover jet ski beached on mud below Sedbury Caravan park on the River Wye. No injuries or damage to jet ski operators, and both Jet Skis safely escorted back to Beachley
         
53 6/11/02 08:32 Beachley Launch to recover drifting vessel at Lydney. Vessel turned out to be missing hovercraft from previous days call. Stood down 11:30
         
52 5/11/02 17:02 Beachley Launch to locate missing hovercraft. Hovercraft crew had been removed by its support vessel. After extensive search by SARA1 from Beachley, SARA2 was launched from Sharpess. Hovercraft was not located.

48 9/9/2002 09:25 Beachley Search of Canals / Pools in Malpas area for missing person - reported missing since July. Nothing found. Stood down 13:00
         
47 19/8/2002 17:10 Upton Launch to recover adult swan which was reported to be badly caught up in fishing line in River Severn at Clevelode. Swan Rescue had previously failed to retrieve bird. After search from Upton to Kempsey, no swans in difficulty were located. Stood down 19:04
         
46 18/8/2002 16:55 Beachley Launch to broken down speedboat 200 metres downstream of old Severn Bridge. 3 Persons on board. Boat towed back to Beachley slipway for recovery. Stood down 17:30
         
45 14/8/2002 09:00 Upton Recovery of young Swans from river Avon at Tewkesbury. One injured cygnet quickly recovered, remainder rounded up with assistance of Swan Rescue. All Swans taken to sanctuary at Droitwich. Stood down 12:42

44 8/8/2002 18:40 Beachley Launch to search area at mouth of River Wye after a report of object in water that may have been a body. Search carried out with SARA 1 and 3. Nothing found. Stood down 20:24
         
43 8/8/2002 09:52 Beachley Search for jumper from old Severn Crossing. SARA 1 already in water at time of call, SARA 3 launched to assist. After extensive search nothing found. Stood down 12:16
         
42 28/7/2002 15:00 Upton Recovery of Cow from River Severn near M50 bridge. Cow towed down river to access point and safely recovered.
         
41 27/7/2002 14:21 Sharpness Responded to call to car in Gloucester canal at Hempstead As crew were already in Gloucester docks, quickly on scene. Car located but no way to recover. Police dive unit checked car next day and found to be empty. Stood down 15:20
         
40 21/7/2002 08:30 Beachley SARA personnel noticed fisherman's equipment on slipway unattended. Investigation and search carried out. Body located and recovered a short distance from Beachley slipway. Team stood down 13:30
         
39 13/7/2002 12:20 Upton Reports of 2 Sheep in water in difficulty. SARA 8 launched and one sheep recovered safely. Second sheep was also located but had already died. Team stood down at 15:18
         
38 12/7/2002 16:01 Upton Body reported in River Avon at Chadbury lock. Crew joined Fire Service in searching river and body located south of Chadbury. Recovered at Fladbury. Team stood down 19:29
         
37 8/7/2002 22:01 Upton Called by police to assist Fire service with recovery of a young boy from lake near Worcester. Boy was located and showed some life signs, but died later in hospital. Team stood down 23:34
         
36 8/7/2002 15:59 Upton Cow in River Avon at Nafford Lock. Cow had made own way out before crew arriving on scene. Team Stood down 16:07
         
35 7/7/2002 03:45 Sharpness Responded to Red Flares seen at Arlingham. Nothing found. Team stood down 06:03.
         
34 2/7/2002 15:25 Beachley Bones found by fisherman on bank at Newnham. Boat launch not required, but land search to assist Police carried out. Team stood down 19:00
         
33 24/6/2002 10:59 Beachley Engine failure on 30 foot yacht. Unable to get steerage. One person on board. SARA 1 launched and vessel towed to Mathern Pill. Team stood down 12:47
         
32 23/6/02 15:30 Beachley Speedboat broken down with six persons on board downstream of Tintern on river Wye. SARA 1 launched and towed vessel back to Chepstow where mobile unit took 5 persons off. Vessel then towed back to Beachley and recovered. Team Stood down 17:40

27 4/6/2002 01:24 Beachley Attend Narrowboat at Beachley Slipway - Craft had slipped moorings. Craft was returned to Beachley and made fast. Stood down 03:32
         
26 3/6/2002 14:35 Beachley Cruiser reported in difficulty in heavy sea. SARA1 already attending narrow boat, Portishead lifeboat assisted craft into Avonmouth.
         
25 3/6/2002 14:35 Beachley Lauch SARA1 to assist narrow boat in difficult in heavy sea. Escorted vessel to Beachley slip were she was made fast to await next days tide. Stood down 16:20
         
24 26/5/2002 12:42 Beachley Launch to recover drifting dingy of Chapel rock. No persons on Board. Returned to station 13:02

21 6/5/2002 17:45 Beachley Gwent Police requested a search for a missing woman in the Bulwark area SARA 3 Launched and searched the area from St Pierre to Chepstow, Land Search teams RV at Bulwark, Longtown and Central Beacons Mountain Rescue also assisted, Search continued 07:05:02, nothing found. Teams stood down 07:05:02
         
20 5/5/2002 22:52 Beachley Three fishermen cut off by the tide at Redwick, First Informant gave location as Redwick on the English Side, Swansea CC called Portishead Lifeboat, the Informant then called again stating he had made a mistake and they were on the Welsh side SARA 1 launched, Portishead Lifeboat changed direction located the three casualties, and was escorted to Beachley Slip by SARA 1 all casualties were ok, Team stood down 01:00
         
19 23/4/2002 22:45 Sharpness Call from Gloucester Police, assitance required with known jumper from Westgate Bridge, Gloucester. Gloucester Fire and Rescue boats also on scence. Police managed to talk jumper down. Team stood down 23:12
         
18 17/4/2002 16:38 Beachley Call from Gwent Police assistance required for a Jumper off George Street Bridge Newport. Mobile 1 & SARA 3 proceeded to Newport to assist Gwent Fire & Rescue, but were stood down before launch. Team stood down at 17:45
         
17 10/4/2002 16:47 Beachley Assistance required to a cruiser adrift in the River Wye, the cruiser managed to limp back to Beachley before SARA launched, the craft was covered to a trailer. Team stood down 15:20.
         
16 4/4/2002 20:50 Beachley Called by Gloucester Police to top end of Lydney Canal, to what looked like a human skull situated in the middle of the canal, two crew members with dry suits, life jacket and attached to life lines entered the canal and recovered what was an old enamel kettle, the team were thanked for the assistance and was stood down at 22:00.
         
15 24/3/2002 09:00 Beachley Gwent Police requesting assistance, to search the fore shore from Caldicot to Sudbrook, a shoe / trainer with a human foot had been found on the flood plane in that area. SARA 3 searched the seaward side of the shore, while a shore search team carried out a search of the shore, a short time later another shoe / trainer was found, no other items found. Team stood down 12:45
         
14 17/3/2002 15:36 Beachley Report of a person in the water having been separated from his jet ski SARA 3 launched, the person in the water was located and recovered to Beachley Slipway by the crew. The casualty was treated for severe Hypothermia by SARA personnel until an ambulance arrived, the casualty was then taken to Hospital, the casualties jet ski was also recovered by SARA team. Team stood down 16:24
         
13 8/3/2002 17:36 Upton Called by West Mercia Police to assist Fire & Rescue with a boat on fire at Upton South, it was quickly determined that it was a false alarm, controlled burning of rubbish on the riverbank. Team stood down 17:31
         
12 28/2/2002 22:34 Sharpness Report of a person cut off by floods, situation was resolved quickly SARA team not now required. Team stood down 23:00
         
11 22/2/2002 13:14 Upton Call from West Mercia Police of a person missing from Upton, after making threats of jumping into the River, SARA 7 & SARA 8 mobilised to Upton Marina Slipway and stoodby, a report from the Police that one person located. Stood down 14:00
         
10 5/2/2002 09:50 Upton Called from local resident via 24 hour line of an elderly gentleman trapped in his car in the flooded area of Hanley Rod Upton, Mobile 4 responded and towed the car to dry land, the car was full of water, the gentleman was well. Stood down 10:45
         
9 4/2/2002 23:45 Upton Called by West Mercia Police of a woman was clinging to a tree in deep Flooded area, SARA 8 and mobile 4 responded to Kinnersley. SARA 8 launched from Seabourne Slipway and proceeded to the area south of Kempsey church. Assisted Police officer and transferred woman to an awaiting ambulance, to take her to Hospital, the casualty was suffering from Hypothermia. Team stood down 16:25
         
8 4/2/2002 14:55 Upton Called via 24 hour line from a Mrs Barkley at Bridge end House, East waterside of flood water coming over the garden wall, with risk of flooding the house. Mobile 5 (101) responded with three crew onboard, 30 sand bags laid along the wall and flooding avoided. Team stood down 14:39
         
7 4/2/2002 08:00 Upton Called via 24 hour line of a person trapped in his car in flood water, Mobile four a crew responded to the scene at Hanley Rd Upton, located vehicle, evacuated casualty and recovered his vehicle, the casualty was safe and well. Stood down 08:45
         
6 3/2/2002 08:10 Upton Request from West Mercia Police for assistance with flood relief and Protection at Upton-Upon-Severn, Teams responded with sand bagging. Team stood down 18:00
         
5 3/2/2002 10:53 Beachley Respond to Lydbrook Gloucester, a report of a car upside down in the flooded river, Mobile one and SARA 5 responded, Gloucester Police were on scene and Quebec 99 Police Helicopter was standing by, the car was located and found no persons in the car. Team stood down 13:50
         
4 1/2/2002 11:58 Sharpness Report of a vehicle cut off by the incoming tide at Stonebench Gloucester, the car was trapped by flood water. Mobile three and SARA 4 responded, on arrival the three had been recovered by an environment agency Landrover. Quebec 99 Police Helicopter and Gloucester Fire & Rescue were also on scene. Team stood down 01:05
         
3 25/1/2002 04:10 Beachley Gwent Police reported to Swansea Coastguard, that there was a possible suicide attempt at the Second Severn Crossing. The situation was resolved during the launch. Team stood down at 04:33
         
2 20/1/2002 15:10 Upton Telephone call from Diglis lock keeper of two canoeists in trouble south of Worcester, SARA 8 (Polycraft) mobilised from Upton Station, the canoeists were located drifting down stream, they were returned to Kempsey Marina Slipway safe and well, the team returned to station and stood down at 17:08
         
1 1/1/2002 21:59 Beachley Call to a boat on fire in the River Wye at Chepstow, fire & Rescue on scene, it was reported that the engine was running prior to the fire, and believed there were persons on board, SARA 1 arrived on scene and stood by while fire & rescue dealt with the fire, no persons on board.
