Announcing SARA Abseil 2010!

Posted in Beachley, Fundraising, News on June 9th, 2010 by Be the first to comment

SARA Abseil 2010The National Diving & Activity Centre is promoting an Abseil Charity Challenge for The Severn Area Rescue Association (SARA) on Sunday 5th September 2010 from 10am at the National Diving & Activity Centre, Chepstow.  The Abseil will be run from the top of the quarry, down 200ft onto a floating pontoon below – an exciting abseil in a spectacular location!

The Abseil is being run to help raise funds for the replacement of SARA 3, one of the craft in SARA’s rescue boat fleet stationed at the Beachley rescue station.

As part of the Abseil, the highest fundraiser will win a mystery prize.  All fundraisers raising £125 or more will be entered into a draw for a day out on the Severn Estuary in a SARA lifeboat.

If you would like to take part, please read the information sheet and then return the entry form by Friday 13th August 2010.

In the event that more money is raised than it costs to replace SARA 3, then all excess money will be diverted to SARA general funds.

See this story on the National Diving & Activity Centre website.

SARA Site Launch 2010

28th May 2010 sees the launch of the new Severn Area Rescue Association website.  The site has been redesigned with a new look, new content and new features.

Some of the features include integrated site search, per station callout lists, Newsletter and the site has been especially designed to provide immediate links to SARA’s JustGiving page and the A-Z of Fundraising ideas.

“The launch of the new website is an important step for SARA. As a Charity, reliant wholly on donations, we strive to raise the profile and reflect accurately what we do as an organisation, whilst making the new website and fundraising opportunities more accessible to all our supporters.

May I take this opportunity to emphasise our thanks to Rob Jervis (Tewkesbury station) for his huge input on developing the website.”

Martyn Edwards ‘Executive Fundraising Officer’
